New year, new choices

Katherine Melgar

A new year means new possibilities and new discoveries. A new year is like beginning a new project–you look for all the resources, you have the excitement of gathering new ideas, you start off on a clean slate.

However, there are times when difficulties and setbacks will try to keep you from focusing on your goals and achievements. Whether it be your academic studies, relationships or perhaps things that are happening back home, do not let that stop you from continuing your goals of becoming a professional in a career that God has chosen for you.

We are blessed to attend a university that has people all around to help you in any area where you may be struggling. They have counselors for you to vent whatever you are feeling, career counselors to provide insight to possible career paths and the Student Support Center to help you with your academic needs. Take advantage of these great resources that you have right here within your reach.

Keep moving forward and complete that project that you have started. Most of all remember that God loves you and wants you to have a relationship with Him. Here is a Bible verse to keep in mind when you feel that you cannot complete your goals in 2019: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, and with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
