The 70th annual Emmy awards ceremony aired Monday, Sept. 17 on NBC. The awards show took place in Los Angeles and was highly anticipated by many television enthusiasts. Here is a list of the winners.

Drama

  • Lead Actor: Matthew Rhys, The Americans

  • Lead Actress: Claire Foy, The Crown

  • Supporting Actor: Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones

  • Supporting Actress: Thandie Newton, Westworld

  • Best Series: Game of Thrones

Comedy

  • Lead Actor: Bill Hader, Barry

  • Lead Actress: Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

  • Supporting Actor: Henry Winkler, Barry

Other interesting events took place at the Emmys this year.

There were constant claims throughout the ceremony that it was the most diverse awards ceremony yet, but many critics observed it to be quite the opposite.

After being in the industry for over 40 years, Henry Winkler–also known as Fonzie from the classic TV show “Happy Days”–finally won an Emmy for his role in the TV show “Barry”.

Lastly, television producer Glenn Weiss won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing and proceeded to propose to his girlfriend in front of a national audience.
