Dear Oakwood

Accent Editorial Board

Dear Oakwood,

We know we don’t have the right words to say, and we know that our actions could never be enough to heal the pain of losing one of your own.

But in your time of need, we strive to be there for you in anyway possible.

To many of us, you all are more than a sister institution. You are friends and family, classmates and acquaintances. You are our brothers and sisters.

We understand what it is like to be a part of a small campus and how widespread pain can be felt in such a tight-knit community.

Here are just a few notes of encouragement from our student body.

"There are no words that can truly tell of the hurt and pain individuals experience during a loss. Many times, grief can drastically consume one's hard. Meanwhile, there are no words that can describe how beautiful resurrection morning will be. This student's life was purposed to give glory to God by growing personally and sharing Christ. Though my heart mourns this loss, it is restless to hear his stories of deliverance on resurrection morning."

~Rhidge Garcia

“Oakwood our hearts are with you. We grieve because of your loss and we while we may not understand everything you are going through we want you to know that we are here for you. Here for comfort, here for support and here for whatever may be needed.”

~Dylan Gibbons

“In such a time of need, all I can do is give my condolences. I will be praying continually for the Goodlow family and everyone affected by this loss. I stand with your campus through everything. I hope and pray that you receive peace and serenity knowing that the day is quickly coming when all the pain of this world will be no more.”

~Janae Cornwall

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you are facing this tragedy. We are hoping and looking forward to a time when there will be no more crying or pain. Our hearts are breaking for you.”

~Delaney Harris

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this troublesome time. Though you experience loss, you are not alone. The entire bcu community is here to support you with our prayers through this difficult experience. We pray that you will be able to find some peace in the midst of this storm, and that you will find comfort. But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength-2 Timothy 4:17.”

~Priya Roberts

“In this moment of grief, God’s still small voice wants us to listen how he feels that he lost someone he loves dearly as well.”

~Oliver Nelson

“As Adventist colleges, the people on our campus become our family, their troubles become our troubles, and the pain they experience can be felt throughout the school. I can’t even begin to imagine how the students at Oakwood feel right now. My heart breaks for all of you right now.”

~Luis Moreno
